I know I’m not the first one to say how being back at work has been so unbearable. I won’t go on and on about it but, I’ve put in half a day so far and I just can’t stand it. The mere sight of some people just puts me in an instant salty mood. I’m over it…
So it gets me thinking. While I was in Fort Myers for 8 days I kept trying to analyze why in the world I still live in the Midwest. Granted my dream of living in Chicago has come true as I’ve been living it for the past 4 years. Every insufferable winter always seems worth it when the 5 months of spring-summer-fall come around. But damn, this city can really get you down when the cold comes in.
I left Florida on Sunday and it was 76 and sunny. Perfect day. My flight landed in Chicago and it was 23 and snow flurries filled the air. Ugh. As I sat on the beach last week I kept considering how I could make it work to live down there. Obviously the grass is always greener - but moving to Florida and getting a job working nights so I can spend my days at the beach just seems like the best laid plan.
If only I could bring all my darling friends here in Chicago and move them all down to Southern Florida with me, it would all work out perfectly! :)
Someday… I will achieve my goal of living somewhere warm with the ocean very close by. Someday.
No words. This blizzard is crazy y’all!
I have a faint recollection of what that means because I used to get them back in grade, junior high and high school. After that - they ceased to exist.
Snow days from work? HA! That has never happened to me and I’ve been working a Mon-Fri, 8-5 job for almost 6 years now. Especially in CHICAGO of all places… not even when we get a foot or more of snow. I wonder if we would get ”snow days” at work even if we were in a state of emergency! (not joking)
So all of you lucky people getting these days off work because of snow, please cherish them! Cherish them for me because I envy you and wish I was you when we get hit with a huge storm and I’m still expected to get to the office. Also, if you are one of those lucky people - don’t ever move to Chicago because 14 inches of snow unfortunately won’t be an excuse to not show up for work.
