I love my Chicago life. I love my job. I love my friend-family. I love my apartment (less the bathroom, more the proximity to my best friend, great restaurants, the airport and a proper yard). I’ve been here for almost five years and we’ve got a good thing going.

That said, with every successive trip to California, it grows on me in ways I never expected. It’s a romance, a dangerous fling of sorts. Not quite realistic but an infatuation nonetheless.

Take Sunset does nothing to dissuade me. This bungalow, nay, this simple picture is the thing that daydreams are made of. I want to line the courtyard of this house in Los Feliz with citrus trees. I want to make fresh pies in that kitchen. I yearn safely, at great distance.

i just spent 6 days in California (specifically the Los Feliz area) and i’m right there with you. i would love, love, LOVE to live there!!

since I don’t live in California, I’m not used to frequent celebrity sighting. what happened to me yesterday is a perfect example of how I can’t behave normally when seeing a famous person.

walking up to grauman’s chinese theater you must ward off all the lame people dressed up as spiderman trying to give you a tour of hollywood, so I was focused on that.

and then, I saw him walk through the crowd. baggy sweatpants and zip-up hoodie - it was TYCE DIORIO!! my eyes widened, I stopped dead in my tracks, pointed at him and let my jaw drop. he noticed my creepy reaction, kind of smiled and kept walking - practically brushing my shoulder as he passed me.

wish I could have acted normal and maybe got a picture with him. but as you can see… I can’t handle seeing famous people who I admire walking down the street.

i’m off to go work on location for a couple of hours, then making my way to o’hare to (hopefully) get on a plane this afternoon and i’ll officially be on vacation!

i’m not one to mock or laugh at people who have thick accents, since i grew up around a greek family full of commonly mis-understood speaking. (i.e. when a greek person says “sheeeet” are they saying “shit” or “sheet”?)

however, i find it VERY difficult to hold myself together any time a japanese co-worker chooses to say the work DIRECTLY. out of ALL the words in the english language, this must be one of the most difficult for the japanese to pronounce. my colleague yoshisaka just said it and pronounced it “dilectry” - i giggled to myself on the inside when he said it.

cause i mean, c’mon… that’s funny, right?

tomorrow at 5:40 p.m. i will be taking off on a plane to southern california. it seems as though i picked the best time to get out of chicago for a vacation - today was our first actual snowfall and the snow + nasty weather is supposed to continue through the week.

i technically have to work tomorrow. i’ll be in the office until noon, and then i head out to a bowling center where we operate an arcade to do some work on-site before i head to the airport.

is it too early to change my voicemail to “hi, you’ve reached christina raptis. i’ll be out of the office until tuesday december 15th…”??

i’ll let you be the judge. :)

i used to mock my mother for watching so many of these ’law and order’ type shows, and they all seem to be on CBS. i mean between all the CSI’s and similar programs - can’t we come up with another concept people?

then i watched it. first of all, shemar moore will be forever gorgeous. he is sooo hotttt! secondly, i DVR every episode that is on TV now so that i can catch up. the reruns are screwing me up though because i’ve seen some of the newer post-gideon episodes, as well as older episodes from the first season. i just this weekend figured out what it was that made gideon leave.

now that i’m fully addicted to the show, my DVR is full of episodes and i pretty much relate to each and every character. i have a major crush on morgan, secret crush on dr. reid, i want to be friends with garcia, prentiss and jj - AND i wish hotch and gideon were my bosses. i’m convinced i’d be a strong asset to the BAU team in quantico. should i just turn in my 2-weeks now? :)
